Meet Dr Parkar
Dr Parkar is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than two decades of clinical experience spanning India, the United Kingdom, and Australia. He holds Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), and is AHPRA-registered in Australia and DHA-registered in the UAE.
His clinical background covers General Adult Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Old Age Psychiatry, across acute inpatient units, community mental health teams, and outpatient care. In addition to this, he has built substantial expertise in conducting detailed Independent Medical Examinations for workers’ compensation claims, personal injuries and other medicolegal reporting, which he now focuses on full-time through Serenity Alliance and ZK Medicolegal.
Drawing upon his extensive experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds across different healthcare systems, Dr Parkar founded Serenity Alliance to deliver high quality specialist psychiatric assessments and care by Telehealth across Australia. Through this he also strives to bring clinical leadership, mentoring for registrars, and peer group supervision to his work alongside direct clinical practice.

General adult psychiatry
Dr Parkar provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adults experiencing the full range of mental health conditions, from mood and anxiety disorders through to more complex and enduring presentations, with care tailored to each person’s circumstances.
Consultation-liaison psychiatry
Working within general hospitals, Dr Parkar provides psychiatric assessment and care in liaison with emergency departments, and medical, surgical, neurological, orthopaedic, and intensive care teams, supporting patients whose mental health is closely intertwined with an acute physical illness or injury.
Old age psychiatry
Dr Parkar previously assessed and managed the mental health needs of older adults, including mood and anxiety conditions and the psychiatric aspects of cognitive decline, with care adapted to the particular needs and context of later life.
Independent medical examinations
Dr Parkar prepares independent medical examination reports for insurers, law firms, and government compensation schemes, providing an objective psychiatric opinion to support claims and legal processes.
Workers’ compensation & WPI
As an authorised Whole Person Impairment assessor across Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and New South Wales, Dr Parkar assesses psychiatric injury arising from the workplace and provides the reports required for workers’ compensation claims.
Dr Parkar conducts DVA Initial Liability Claim (ILC) assessments for veterans, evaluating psychiatric injury and impairment in line with Department of Veterans’ Affairs requirements.
Telepsychiatry
All of Dr Parkar’s clinical and medicolegal work is delivered via Telehealth, which allows for thorough psychiatric assessment and care delivery while giving clients across Australia easier access to specialist input, regardless of location, and from the safety and comfort of their own home.
Dr Parkar has been trained to prescribe, oversee, and monitor Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment as part of appropriate treatment planning when required and ensure safe and effective care for his patients.

Professional experience
Having worked in a variety of public and private sector clinical services for many years, Dr Parkar now works exclusively through Serenity Alliance as a Psychiatrist and Medical Director, and through ZK Medicolegal for IME assessments.
Competencies and Clinical Skills
Dr Parkar’s clinical practice has covered General Adult and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, delivered across acute hospital inpatient settings as well as outpatient clinics. Within these settings, he has led multidisciplinary teams of nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and other allied health staff, supervised trainee registrars, and provided case management oversight. He has also been trained in safe ECT administration, and has prescribed, administered, and monitored ECT where clinically indicated.
At present, he focuses mostly on outpatient clinical care for people over 18 years of age, and conducting Independent Medical Examinations.
Alongside clinical work, Dr Parkar has delivered medical education and postgraduate teaching as a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland and Griffith University, and has served as an examiner for their clinical OSCE and VIVA assessments.
Independent Medical Examiner
Dr Parkar conducts Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and medicolegal assessments through Serenity Alliance and ZK Medicolegal, working exclusively via Telehealth. Face-to-face assessments can be specifically requested in certain cases.
His work includes workers’ compensation assessments for all Australian state jurisdictions, DVA Initial Liability Claim (ILC) assessments, and lawyer-requested IMEs for personal injury claims, medical negligence, and road traffic accidents. He also provides second opinions for WorkCover claims, and completes insurer-requested IME assessments, desktop reviews, and MAS/PIC statements.
Dr Parkar is an authorised Whole Person Impairment (WPI) assessor in Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, and New South Wales.
Management and Leadership
Dr Parkar co-founded Serenity Alliance, a Telehealth psychiatry practice, and has served as its Medical Director since August 2024, overseeing daily clinical and operational leadership. He also served as Secretary of the Queensland Psychiatry Trainees Association.
Alongside this, he has held academic appointments as Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland (August 2017 – August 2021) and Griffith University (August 2018 – December 2020), teaching psychiatry and supervising medical students on clinical placement.
